I'm Joy Raintree. I am the regional chief for the Sandhills region of the South Carolina State Park Service. We service 47 parks around the state. My job is so cool. I get to travel all over the state and see the best of what South Carolina has to offer and work on improving that for the people that are traveling through the state and living in the state. So, really looking at cultural and natural resources around the state. Work-life balance matters to me, because I am a busy mom. I have a supportive husband. I have four kids that are in school and in sports. So, when things come up, like soccer games and awards, things like that, I'm able to balance that with my job and do what's most important to me. And, I have a supportive employer who understands that and thinks that family life is important and is the number one thing to keep people happy. I'm able to schedule appointments around my job. I'm able to get what I need to get done in a day's time, and then still go home and be present and there for my family and attend important events. That's really important to me, to be able to have a job that I love, a job that I enjoy getting up and going to every morning, but still having that time and that connection to my family. You know, when you're able to spend time on your family and balance that with a job that you love going to every day, that's gonna make you a happier employee. When you're able and you feel like you are supported in that and you are encouraged to keep that family time and to keep that home life as your number-one priority, that makes going to your job a lot easier. You know, I've been in this agency for 15 years and I've stayed for a reason. Because it's easy to get up and go to work every day with people that you feel like are family. I feel like, for state parks, that we act as a family. And, you feel like you have that support. Your family becomes a part of theirs.
